2024 CLASSES

Term 1 Timetable coming soon

All classes will include:

Technique, foot placement & posture,
Level appropriate steps / movements,
Music recognition,
Choreographed dances depending on progress,
Céili dances (when possible) and
Warming-up & Cooling down

PRIMARY CLASS

(4-6 year-olds)

The focus will be on learning the basic steps in Irish dancing like the “123”, “7”, “Sidestep” & “Skip-123” in a fun & creative atmosphere.

BUNGHRÁD – BEGINNERS

(from age 7)

The focus of this course will be on learning the Beginners (bunghrád) Reel; the first soft shoe dance all Irish dancers learn.

Introduction to other fundamental dance movements will taught as an introduction to other styles of soft shoe dances , such as the Jig.

After mastering the ‘Bunghrád Reel’, dancers can progress on to ‘Bunghrád Advanced’.

BUNGHRÁD – ADVANCED

(from age 7)

Participating in this class will be possible once finished learning the first dance – ‘Bunghrád Reel’.

The focus will be on learning the other three soft shoe dances of this grade – Slip Jig, Light Jig & Single Jig.

ULLMHÚCHÁN – SOFT & HARD SHOES

(from age 7)

The focus of the Soft Shoe class will be on learning the three Ullmhúchán Soft Shoe dances – Reel, Slip Jig & Single Jig. Repetition of the Bunghrád dances (Reel, Slip Jig, Light Jig & Single Jig) is part of this class, encouraging stronger basic technique and mastery of movements.

The focus in the Hard Shoe class will be on learning the basic percussive technique in hard shoe work.

Four dances will be taught in this class – Ullmhúchán Treble Jig & Hornpipe and the Traditional Set Dances ‘St. Patrick’s Day’ & ‘Humours of Bandon’.

MEANGHRÁD – SOFT & HARD SHOES

(from age 7)

The focus of the Soft Shoe class will be on learning the three Meanghrád Soft Shoe dances – Reel, Slip Jig & Single Jig.

The focus of the Hard Shoe class will be on learning the more advanced percussive technique in hard shoe work.

Five dances will be taught in this class – Meanghrád Treble Jig & Hornpipe, the Traditional Set Dances ‘Job of Journeywork’ & ‘Blackbird’ and a Contemporary Set dance.

Repetition of all Ullmhúchán dances is part of this class encouraging stronger technique and mastery of movements.

ARDGHRÁD – SOFT & HARD SHOES

(from age 7)

The focus of the Soft Shoe class will be on learning the three Ardghrád Soft Shoe dances – Reel, Slip Jig & Single Jig.

The focus of the Hard Shoe class will be on learning the advanced and modern percussive technique in hard shoe work.

Five dances will be taught in this class – Ardghrád Treble Jig & Hornpipe, the Traditional Set Dances ‘White Blanket’ & ‘Garden of Daisies’ and a Contemporary Set dance.

Repetition of all Meanghrád dances is part of this class encouraging stronger technique and mastery of movements.

ADULT CLASS – SOFT & HARD SHOES

Adults are welcome to join our timetabled classes. All levels are offered.

EXAM / COMPETITION CLASS

(from age 7 – all levels)

This class will give dancers the opportunity to prepare for Competitions, CRN Graded Exams and/or Teacher’s Exams (ODCRN).

ONLINE TUITION

(from age 7)

Online tuition offers dancers in remote areas the opportunity to learn how to Irish dance via weekly video lessons and/or tutorials.

We also offer this opportunity to dancers locally, but who cannot attend the timetabled classes.

PRIVATE TUITION

(all ages & levels)

Private tuition is available for everybody who wishes to have more one on one lessons. Private lessons can be for individual, duo or more people. In person or via zoom.
